QuickTime 7.6 Update

Apple has an update for QuickTime 7.6 for Mac OS X 10.4, 10.5, and all versions of Windows. This fixes a bug that can cause a crash and exposure to hostile content via a booby-trapped RTSP URL.  Read more about it, and get the update, here.

iTunes 8.02 Bug Fixes

The latest version of iTunes is 8.02. According to Apple's Software Update, this version has some stability and bug fixes, including some problems with connectivity to the Apple Store. (That's an important fix for Apple- they want us to go to the store and buy stuff.) It also fixes a bug that was affecting the quality when creating MP3 files.

Bugs Fixed in Firefox 3.0.5

Mozilla Firefox 3.0.5 fixes a number of critical security bugs, including a couple in XSS, and others that may causes crashes with memory corruption. See the full set of security fixes here.

Access 2007 Hotfix

Microsoft has a hotfix for Access 2007. It fixes a bug in the Visual Basic Editor, a bug that causes a Runtime Error 2467, and some bugs that slow down performance. Get the hotfix information here.

Twitter-phishing

C Net has information about a phishing scheme that will attempt to steal your Twitter log-in information by steering you to a site masquerading as Twitter. Be careful - you don't want someone stealing your Twitter log-in information and then proceed to make a bunch of really boring, mundane posts.

Apple's Mail Update

There is a bug in the Mac OS X 10.5.6 update that may cause the Apple Mail program to crash. Apple patched their update; run Software Update, and if you need the update it will appear automatically.

Calendar Bug Affects Zunes

Quite a few Microsoft Zune music players took a two day vacation on December 30-31. Apparently, there is a bug in the Zune's calendar software, which caused many to shut down for two days, before starting back up on January 1. Why is there calendar software in the Zune? Because Microsoft uses a subscription model for its music store. That's why the Zune has this function. Read more here.
